Playfire Closure: 30 September 2022
Earlier this year we successfully migrated our community forums onto Discord and now have a much more robust platform to keep our friendly community engaged. We hope that you’ve joined us there, if not please come and say hello.
The next step of this process was to close the Playfire client which has now been done as of the 30th September 2022.
If you have ever purchased a game that uses Playfire, you would you have received two emails from us informing you about this closure and if you wish to keep your games, you needed to download them and store them locally.
How can I play my Playfire game(s)?
As the Playfire client has now been closed, you will be able to launch your game if you managed to download the game before this closure. The game files can be found in the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayfireClientGames
We advise you to keep a backup of these game files so you can keep them for the future.
I downloaded the game, but I cannot run it
A lot of the games on Playfire have been around a while, and as such may not work properly on latest Operating Systems or have compatibility issues. Please try and run the game in Windows Compatibility Mode and you may have success. Microsoft have a helpful article here explaining how to do this.
The game is asking me for a serial key, but I wasn't provided one/I can't find it
You may be prompted to enter a serial key even if you managed to download the game successfully. If you are being prompted to enter a key and do not have it to hand, you can find these on your Purchases page on Green Man Gaming or by contacting customer services. Unfortunately they are not able to provide any replacement game keys.
My issue isn't listed here
Please contact customer services and they will be able to investigate your issue, but please note due to the closure there is only a very limited amount of support they will be able to provide. No refunds or replacement games will be issued.
