System files
Sometimes we may need a system report to help troubleshoot issues. Below will detail how to pull such reports if requested.
WINDOWS
MSINFO
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type MSInfo32 and press Enter.
- In the System Information window, click File, then Export.
- When the Export As window appears, choose Desktop.
- Name the file "MSInfo" and click Save.
We can only accept files smaller than 20MB. If the saved file is too large to be attached to your ticket, the error section may be too large. To reduce the file’s size:
- Open the saved MSInfo file.
- Press Ctrl + F and search for [Windows Error Reporting].
- Delete everything after the first ten lines of [Windows Error Reporting].
- Save the file.
DXDIAG
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type DxDiag and press Enter.
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file "dxdiag" and click Save.
MAC
SYSTEM PROFILE REPORT
- Open the Apple menu and select About This Mac.
- Click System Report.
Note: Select More Info...on version 10.9.5. - Click File and Save to your desktop.
We can only accept files that are 20MB or less in size. If the System Profiler Report is too large to be attached to your ticket, convert it into a text document:
- Open Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities)
- Copy and run the following command:
- system_profiler -detailLevel full > ~/Desktop/Myreport.txt
- A file named Myreport.txt will appear on your Desktop.
